Training Lead
Rob arrived in Leicester as a Consultant Diabetologist in 1993, after a Clinical Research Fellowship in Nottingham where he took a DM in Lymphocyte Function in Diabetes, and completing his training as a Senior Registrar in Cambridge. He had a long spell at the Postgraduate Deanery and HEEM as Associate Postgraduate Dean and Associate Foundation School Director, and then served as Chair of the Association of British Clinical Diabetologists 2014-17.
He has been asked to update the BRC Training Strategy and ensure that the training experience meets the expectations of NIHR. He will be working in collaboration with training leads in other research organisations in LLR to increase the capacity and quality of research training, to attract more people from all backgrounds to do research and to remain research-active throughout their careers.
